Mark Edwards is the featured actor everyone recognizes, but rarely does anyone know his name.
In a way, I admire that. He’s famous without the fame. He is successful and working all the time, doing projects he loves without (seemingly) people chasing him around.
He's voiced Disney movies, Animated comedies, and been the most recognizable "oh, that guy … he was in this movie and that movie and he voiced that thing … he's in everything" guy!
The guy is a chameleon. He has done everything from stage to screen to VO and he is one of the most affable people in the industry. Rarely do you hear anyone say ANYTHING negative about Mark Edwards.
(The point here is that he is a phenomenal actor and does it all with integrity, not just that he is liked.)
He told a story once that when his voice became popular, the amount of requests he received to voice everything from toys to video games was so great that he told people to hire his students (who have almost the exact same skills) to voice all of the ancillaries.
Sure, he didn't have time to do it, but he gave his students the opportunity that maybe they never would have thought of to do something interesting and different. He opens doors.
18+ years in the Theater industry (How many people can say they've done that?); I've done three National Tours, Off-Broadway and Broadway shows; and I've done it all with integrity.
He was Mr. Broadway and transitioned from Acting to Coaching so seamlessly and now acts when he wants, not out of necessity, but out of fulfillment. He has utilized his coaching practice to affect change in huge corporations and yet still takes the time to coach actors for an important audition or offers free weekly meditation groups.
I lived in New York for 6+ years when lots of people don't even last a year. I've made a name for myself in an industry I never formally trained in.
I've become a prominent actor at Walnut Street Theatre, as well as Broadway Guest Artist with major Entertainment Companies (Disney) and through it, have mentored over 150 young performers.
Now, I have a larger life ON LAND and act when I want to.
Mark is also am THE most professional person who will ever be in a Room/VOBooth/Virtual Office. Sidenote: he’s terrible at auditioning, but give him a chance and you'll hire him for everything! And that has proved to be true time and time again. He’s also quite the introvert. While he has trouble accepting praise or the limelight, he deserves it all.
Mark is proof you don't have to choose between being successful, being kind, and being fully yourself.
